Being the new kid on the block isn't a bad deal.
This college football season marked the a major shift in conference realignment, which, when paired with the start of the 12 team playoff, was likely the largest season-to-season change the sport has ever seen. Historically, programs haven't faired the best in their first year in a new league, but this year, the new kids are cooking. With three weeks until Selection Sunday, teams that weren't in the conference last year are in the championship hunt in all of the power conferences and the American Athletic Conference.
American: Army has already locked up a championship game appearance against Tulane.
ACC: SMU currently leads the league with an undefeated conference record.
Big 12:Colorado, in its return to the conference, is currently in the driver's seat for the championship game.
Big Ten: Oregon currently leads the conference and the country as the #1 team.
SEC: Conference newcomer Texas currently leads the league.
As the season barrels towards championship weekend and the first 12 team playoff, there's plenty of excitement in conference races and rankings.
